Allan Stern CEO

guiding force

A leader in the fields of telecommunications and information technology, Allan Stern is the guiding force behind Adaptive Engineering. Prior to starting this company, Allan was CEO of AltiComm, a nationwide carrier of local and long distance telephone services. Its marquee clients included Enterprise Rent-a-Car, GNC and Brookstone. He also served as VP of Research and Development for MediaOne (now Comcast) and founding VP/GM of RCN, a competitive telephone and cable television company. As Chief Information Officer for the City of Boston, Stern was responsible for all technology and telecommunications decisions for one of New England’s largest IT groups. Allan was educated at Boston University and the Harvard Business School.


Leanne Hill Managing Director

Leanne Hill is a seasoned executive known for her talents helping companies develop the processes and people necessary to successfully grow and thrive. Leanne has previously held executive positions at Crosby Benefits Systems where she spent 27 years and at NextIT. Working as an independent consultant and advisor to small technology companies for several years before joining Adaptive Engineering, she had the opportunity to help other owners and executives achieve their goals. Leanne is a graduate of Brandeis University.


Ray Carthy Project Management

As Adaptive’s principal consultant, Ray Carthy provides project and program management leadership to client engagements in concert with Delivery Management, Development, and Creative Design teams. He is part of a unique and dynamic group of artists and technologists collaborating to produce and deliver intuitive, graphical and innovative user-interfaces to enterprise-level corporate and customer-facing applications. Ray works closely with clients to integrate our award-winning core product offering, Concourse, an enterprise-level secure unified communication and collaboration solution. Besides his achievements at Adaptive, he has managed sweeping and complex projects at MediaOne, AT&T Broadband and Comcast, and oversaw customer relations for Boston University housing (a collegiate, residential, multimillion dollar operation serving 15,000 students and their constituencies), while directing its information and decision systems support. A graduate of Harvard University and Boston University, Ray enjoys science fiction, choir and fencing.


Steve Michaels Director of Business Development

Following sixteen years as CEO of a New York-based commercial printing company, Steve Michaels came to Adaptive Engineering as Director of Business Development. Steve grew a neighborhood printing company into a large company offering a wide range of solutions to major corporations in the Tr-State area. His experience transitioning from traditional to digital printing while reaching into new markets and developing and serving new clients have made him a critical sales resource for Adaptive Engineering.


Stuart Rotman  Creative Director

Stuart Rotman has been directing award winning media and design projects for more than twenty years. He has extensive experience in graphic design, motion design and web design projects as well as writing, editing and producing commercial and promotional video for television and the internet. Prior to joining Adaptive Engineering, Stuart was the Design Director for Boston’s WB and Fox 25 in Boston and Cleveland’s CBS affiliate, leading the creation of graphic packages for news, promotion, sports and kids programming in these major media markets, and has been honored with 11 Emmys and many other industry awards. Stuart also was principal and creative director for Pixel Soup, an agency specializing in design, branding and animation for television and video. Stuart has a B.A. in English Literature from Brandeis University and a B.F.A. in Graphic Design from the Rhode Island School of Design. He is married and lives in the Boston area with his wife and three children.
